Healthy diet and exercise for children

The ZüMEB Zürcher (Migrationsprojekt für gesunde Ernährung und Bewegung) project is designed to inform migrants of the importance of a healthy diet and regular exercise for children’s well-being and for them maintaining a healthy weight. The intention is to primarily reach parents of children in kindergarten and primary school. The project forms part of the cantonal "Ernährung und Bewegung" (Nutrition and exercise) action programme.

Events

FISP offers information and discussion events for migrants.

Parents learn about the connection between nutrition, physical activity and health. They gain knowledge and motivation to promote healthy eating and physical activity habits in their children.

 

Topics:

Healthy nutrition for children

The importance of eating and drinking for health, the ideal composition of balanced meals, maximum recommended intake of sugary foods for children, tips on how to make unpopular foods tasty for children, tips on how to make convenience foods "healthier" and ideas for cooking healthily and shopping economically.

Exercise for children

What does physical activity mean for the health and development of children? How can children be encouraged to move enough? What physical activities are available in the Zurich region?

Target group and settings

Target group: Migrants, particularly parents

Group size: 8 – approx. 20 adults

Possible venues / settings:
Migrant associations, organisations or groups, community centres, projects / institutions within the social and educational sector

Healthy diet for children
